Happy new year!

It's been a while since the last time I posted anything so I wanted to share some of the last makeup looks I've posted on my instagram ❤️

As you can see there's lots of glitter and crazy liner ❤️ I've been breaking my makeup habits lately and working on my creativity! Every day is a new challenge!
Can't wait for all the new adventures that 2014 has prepared for me! So far I have two jobs in my pocket and continue with my freelancing career ❤️ Been busy as a bee, can't complain!
Happy new year!

Krampus!

Super quick Krampus facechart I did on dec the 24th! I don't celebrate christmas whatsoever but I find Krampusnacht and the Krampus really cool ;) specially cause he takes bad children with him so it's a creepy christmas story! All spookiness is welcome!

It was super quick so it doesn't have much detail but was really fun to do :)

Kat von D Spellbinding palette

For my birthday I got this Kat von D Spellbinding palette and I love it!
The colors are really pigmented and they already come paired with a perfect match :) it also has instructions for three looks perfect for day and night!
This palette is so versatile that it has become my everyday palette. I love that the colors are easily blendable and that you can add one color on top of another to create new, different shades! The only downside is that is has a little fallout so be warned! Other than that it is perfect.
Here are some of the looks I created. I used my Urban Decay primer as a base :)

Using Arcadia and Wonderland
Using Bukowski and Queen
Babe and Piaf, this is one of the looks with instructions on the palette
WTF
WTF and Countess
Smile now and Cry later eyeshadows.

Facecharts

If you have followed my instagram for a while, you'd know I really enjoy doing facecharts and overlays. It's a skill every make-up artist should have and since I can't do Photoshop I've been practicing with makeup and color pencils and it's a very relaxing habit. Some of these are old and you can tell I've improved! Skills are all about practice!!

Last three have been my entries for The Make-up show FacechArt contest where I've been finalist :)

AND! I just found out the model for this collection will (most likely) be the ever gorgeous pin-up ghoul Micheline Pitt! Can it get even more perfect than that?!

Two things I don't like: the packaging seems just plain, and the colors are not LE items, I have most of this products already.

I think I'll get the palettes and the Monster FX stuff, but it's kind of a bummer that MAC keeps coming up with "new collections" that are basically old stuff in new packaging. I wish this had monsters in the palettes or something...

Anyway, enjoy the info!

Making movies!

So I wanted to share a bit of my experience on set as a makeup artist. I usually don't do a lot of films, I prefer music videos and photoshoots (just one or two days and you're always busy), but I do enjoy being on set and learning how things are done for the big screen!

I'm currently working on a feature film called Lost in Darkness and it includes lots of blood and dead bodies, which I love doing! I'm in charge of the FX makeup only but I do assist the Key MUA with whatever she may need! So I can be blood tubing one minute and the next one making a girl look pretty, it's exciting :)

The biggest challenge is to make everything believable, and when you're recording super HD with a RED camera things get a bit complicated! Specially when it comes to effects and prosthetics.

He died in a car accident!
I did his head wound and blood tubing for the blood coming out of his head.
This is what you use for the tubing, the blood is thinned with water and Dawn soap so that it has a nice texture, and darkened with Chocolate syrup! It smelled like chocolate soap :)
Same kid, now at the morgue

A close up of the wound

Lividity on his back :) He had a huge tattoo but it was covered nicely!
Key MUA Cat adding some scabs, I'll try to see if someone took pics of me working!

There was a Police Dept and a hospital inside the studio!

The makeup room, I love working on studios because I usually have a designated space for makeup and not just do it in the middle of the street or in a Bathroom with bad lighting, ugh! I do always carry my director's chair with me because otherwise my back will kill me.
I loved the airplane set in the studio, it was so cool!

I'll post more about it later! There's a lot of blood coming up! We will shoot in a cabin next week I can't wait :) Slit throats, decomposing bodies and body parts coming :)

Face Forward

So last week I got the greatest beauty make-up book ever: Kevyn Aucoin's FaceForward!

"The truth is, there is no 'magic' make-up product. Though some products are superior to others, the 'magic' is in the application"

Companies that DO test on animals

Just FYI, the dark side of my post for Feb 20th. This companies still test their products on animals AND kill them. As consumers do have a lot of influence on company's policies, you may think twice before purchasing something from these guys. I know it is HARD, but once in a while you can start replacing these brands for the other ones. Specially when it comes to cosmetics and make-up. To this date, Colgate-Palmolive Co. (CP) is working for regulatory change, which means,
"Companies listed as "Working for Regulatory Change" conduct tests on animals only when required by law, are actively working for the replacement of animals with non-animal methods, and release to PETA all information about tests and what is done to avoid them."

Cruelty Free Make-up + Skin Care

I always try to get all my make-up Cruelty Free! Since I buy and use a lot of make-up I feel happier if no cats (or any other animal!) where harmed in the process. No OUCH involved in this make-up, cosmetics, skin care and fragrances companies.
