DIY Clay Mask (For Oily Skin)

Guess what folks! There's a way to create your very own, do-it-yourself clay mask without spending money on stores or a spa, and it involves kitties!!

I'm talking about kitty litter mask. It is nothing more or less than bentonite clay grains, exactly the same clay used in clay masks at a spa! Bentonite Clay absorbs oils from your skin and reduces pores. Sounds good, huh?

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbsp of Kitty Litter (Unscented!)
  • Water
  • 1 Tbsp of a essential oil you like! Could be Aloe Vera Gel, Tea Tree Oil (My personal favorite for acne), Almond Oil, Chamomile Oil, Infused rose oil, or lavender oil.

Mix all ingredients in a bowl (Microwave safe!), stir gently until you have a smooth substance. Put the bowl in the microwave for about 10-20 seconds to warm up the mixture (that is necessary to open up your pores). It will look muddy, with water below the surface.
With your fingers, apply ONLY the clay water to your face (Grains rare too rough on your skin), keeping your eye area clear. Leave the mask to dry for about 15 minutes.
Gently wash off with warm water, end with a splash of cold (you can also massage your face with ice). Apply moisturizer and you're ready!

WARNING: Clay can really dry out your skin, so don't use this mask too often; once in two weeks is just fine if your skin is oily to normal. DO NOT USE this mask if you have dry skin! It will dry it out even more!
